15. Automatic Block Mesh Generation#

This data is required when INPUT_MESH_FILE(10.1) = 0 and is used to automatically generate a mesh for a block. The block analysis region is assumed to contain a block-shaped conductor or magnetic material. Property IDs 1 and 2 are assigned to the conductor (magnetic-material) region and the surrounding air region, respectively.

This feature is mainly for developer debugging, so detailed explanations are omitted.

ELEMENT_TYPE: element type

Element type: = 0: hexahedral element; = 1: triangular-prism element; = 2: tetrahedral element. Element order is determined by NODE_ORDER(4) and EDGE_ORDER(4).

When ELEMENT_TYPE = 2, set NODE_ORDER(4) = 1 and EDGE_ORDER(4) = 1.

DIVISION_TYPE: division type

Effective when ELEMENT_TYPE = 2 (tetrahedral elements). = 0: division A; = 1: division B. Several methods exist for dividing a hexahedron into tetrahedra.

Coordinate settings: the same applies to the Y and Z directions

  • X_AIR_LOWER: lower coordinate of the air region in the X direction

  • X_MAT_LOWER: lower coordinate of the conductor (magnetic-material) region in the X direction

  • X_MAT_UPPER: upper coordinate of the conductor (magnetic-material) region in the X direction

  • X_AIR_UPPER: upper coordinate of the air region in the X direction

Division-count settings: the same applies to the Y and Z directions

  • XDIV_AIR_LOWER: number of divisions at the lower side of the air region in the X direction

  • XDIV_MAT: number of divisions in the conductor (magnetic-material) region in the X direction

  • XDIV_AIR_UPPER: number of divisions at the upper side of the air region in the X direction

When values such as XDIV_AIR_LOWER are set to negative values, enter nonuniform divisions (RATIO in text format).

  • XDIV_AIR_UPPER_DIVISION: enter coordinate values for the number of divisions. The first value must equal X_MAT_UPPER and the last must equal X_AIR_UPPER.
