VI-3. Fixed Format Files#

EMSolution writes the following data files in fixed format.

File elem#

Writes element centroid coordinates and volumes when ELEM_OUT(10.2) =1. The format is fixed; for CADAS output, the data are not included in post.cad.

<When ELEM_OUT(10.2) =1 is specified in the input file>

Element Quantity

  • Element ID

  • Element material-property ID (when ELEM_OUT(10.2) =2)

  • Centroid x-coordinate (m)

  • Centroid y-coordinate (m)

  • Centroid z-coordinate (m)

  • Element volume (m3)

File heat#

HEAT(10.3) writes heat-generation density and heat generation in each element. For transient analysis, it writes values at each step (AVERAGE(10.2) =0) or time-averaged values (AVERAGE(10.2) =1). For AC steady-state analysis, it writes values at each output phase (AVERAGE(10.2) =0) or values averaged over one cycle (AVERAGE(10.2) =1).

<When HEAT(10.3) =2 is specified in the input file>

Element Quantity (Fixed Format)

  • Element ID

  • Element material-property ID

  • Centroid x-coordinate (m)

  • Centroid y-coordinate (m)

  • Centroid z-coordinate (m)

  • Heat-generation density (W/m3)

Writes each element’s element ID, material-property ID, centroid XYZ coordinates (m), and element-average heat-generation density (W/m3).

File motion#

When motion-equation input 運動方程式入力(18.6) <Dynamic module> is used, writes time, position [rotational position], velocity [angular velocity], and electromagnetic force [torque]. Values in brackets represent rotational motion. The format is fixed, and data are written to the motion file.

<When 運動方程式入力(18.6) is specified in the input file>

Element Quantity (Fixed Format)

  • Time

  • Position (m) [rotational position (deg)]

  • Velocity (m/s) [angular velocity (deg/s)]

  • Electromagnetic force (N) [torque (Nm)]

File flux#

When the READ_OPTION(11) =2 surface-element material-property ID input is used in a MAG_FLUX(11) linked-flux calculation loop, writes the LOOP ID, surface-element ID, surface-element centroid coordinates, and normal component of magnetic flux density. The format is fixed, and data are written to the flux file.

<When READ_OPTION(11) is specified in the input file>

Element Quantity (Fixed Format)

  • LOOP ID (surface-element material-property ID)

  • Surface-element ID

  • Surface-element centroid x-coordinate (m)

  • Surface-element centroid y-coordinate (m)

  • Surface-element centroid z-coordinate (m)

  • Normal component of surface-element magnetic flux density (T)

File initial_magnetization.dat#

When MAGNETIZATION(10.3) =4, writes residual magnetic flux density, magnetization ratio, and recoil permeability. The format is fixed, and data are written to the initial_magnetization.dat file.

<When MAGNETIZATION(10.3) =4 is specified in the input file>

Element Quantity (Fixed Format)

  • Element ID

  • Material-property ID

  • Magnetization x-component (M-X)

  • Magnetization y-component (M-Y)

  • Magnetization z-component (M-Z)

  • Magnetization magnitude (M-SQR)

  • Magnetization ratio
