Installing on Linux#

Important

Before installing EMSolution, you must activate the license. For instructions on license activation, see /handbook/install/licence_protection.

1. Copying the Executable Modules#

On Linux, copy the EMSolution executable modules to a directory of your choice. Follow the steps below.

  1. Download the EMSolution executable modules.

  2. Copy the downloaded archive file (ZIP file) to the target machine.

  3. Extract the archive file by using the following command.

unzip emsol_(version).zip
  1. Store the executable modules in a suitable directory. For example, to store them in /usr/local/bin, use the following command.

sudo cp emsol_(version) /usr/local/bin/
sudo chmod +x /usr/local/bin/emsol_(version)

2. Installing Libraries#

Important

The Linux version of pyemsol requires the Intel oneAPI runtime (libimf.so / libsvml.so / libirng.so / libintlc.so.5). Install Intel oneAPI separately by downloading and installing it.

Run the following command to check the libraries used by the emsol_(version) executable module and pyemsol.so.

Command for Checking Libraries on Linux#
# EMSolutionの場合
ldd /usr/local/bin/emsol_(version)

# pyemsolの場合
ldd (your_python_env)¥Lib¥site-packages¥pyemsol_(version)/pyemsol.so

Other Python libraries, such as pybind11 and Intel mkl, may also be required. You can install these libraries using a standard Python package manager such as pip or conda.

# 例: pipを使用してインストールする場合
pip install pybind11 pybind11-abi
pip install mkl mkl-include

# 例: condaを使用してインストールする場合
conda install -c conda-forge pybind11 pybind11-abi
conda install -c intel mkl mkl-include

3. Configuring the PATH#

To run EMSolution, add the path to the executable modules to an environment variable. Follow the steps below.

  1. Identify the path of the directory that contains the EMSolution executable modules.

  2. Add the path to the PATH environment variable by using the following command.

export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/bin/emsol_(version)
  1. To persist this setting, add the following line to the .bashrc file in your home directory.

echo 'export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/bin/emsol_(version)' >> ~/.bashrc
source ~/.bashrc

4. Testing#

To confirm that EMSolution was installed correctly, run the following command. [-v] displays version information.

emsol_(version) -v

If EMSolution is installed correctly, its version information is displayed. If an error is displayed, check the PATH configuration and the location of the executable modules again.

Note

If an error such as a missing library occurs, confirm that the required libraries are installed. EMSolution may depend on specific libraries. To check the libraries in use, run the following command.

ldd /usr/local/bin/emsol_(version)

If a required library is missing, install it with an appropriate package manager. For example, on Ubuntu:

sudo apt-get install libiomp5md
sudo apt-get install libstdc++6

For Red Hat-based distributions: .. code-block:: bash

sudo yum install libiomp5md sudo yum install libstdc++.so.6
