License File Protection

License File Protection#

Important

This section describes protection using an independent license file without CodeMeter. For protection using CodeMeter, see /handbook/install/license_protection.

Redistributable libraries are included for Windows; place them in the correct location. Linux also requires external libraries. If they are not installed, install them using the procedure below.

License files are encrypted. When using Linux, transfer them to the target machine in binary format.

Use on Windows#

On Windows, the dedicated installer places included external libraries in the same folder as EMSolution execution modules.

# For EMSolution
  • ¥EMSolution
    • Standard installed items
      • EMSI.chm

      • EMSI_64.exe

      • EMSolBatch_x64.exe

      • EMSolution_x64.exe

      • libiomp5md.dll

      • LICENSE_AGREEMENT.txt

      • THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt

      • unins000.dat

      • unins000.exe

# For pyemsol
  • ¥Anaconda3¥envs¥(your_env)¥Lib¥site-packages¥pyemsol_(version)
    • Standard installed items
      • __init__.py

      • core.py

      • emsol.py

      • emsol_(version).pyd

      • …

Note

As of 2025.05, Windows users are provided only license protection using CodeMeter.

This license file protection may be used only for trial licenses.

Release 2025.11

Changed to a method that does not include external libraries.

Use on Linux#

Important

The Linux version of pyemsol requires the Intel oneAPI runtime (libimf.so / libsvml.so / libirng.so / libintlc.so.5), so install oneAPI separately. Download and install Intel oneAPI.

Run the following command to check libraries used by the emsol_(version) execution module and pyemsol.so.

Linux command for checking libraries#
# EMSolutionの場合
ldd /usr/local/bin/emsol_(version)

# pyemsolの場合
ldd (your_python_env)¥Lib¥site-packages¥pyemsol_(version)/pyemsol.so

If required external libraries other than those used by the license file are not found, see Installing on Linux and install them.

License file placement#

Place the license file using one of the following methods, listed in descending priority.

  1. Set environment variable EMSOL_LICENSE_FILE to the license file path, including the license file name.

    • Windows example: set EMSOL_LICENSE_FILE=C:\path\to\EMS_license.dat

    • Linux example: export EMSOL_LICENSE_FILE=/path/to/EMS_license.dat

  2. Place the file named EMS_license.dat in the same folder as the execution module. The file name is fixed.

  3. Place the license file named EMS_license.dat in the default folder.

    • Windows: C:\ProgramData\SSIL\EMSolution\

    • Linux: /usr/local/emsol/

Only environment-variable configuration permits an arbitrary file name. Therefore, when using different license files on a PC cluster or multiple machines, we recommend setting the environment variable for each user to the license file distributed for that license.

Alternatively, duplicate the execution module into separate folders and place the license file distributed for each license in its corresponding folder.

To verify the configuration, run “3. Test” in Installing on Linux. If the license file is correctly placed, EMSolution version information is displayed.
